Prepayment: You may prepay all or part of your loan at anytime without penalty. However, if a balance remains owing you are still required to make your regular periodic payments. A partial payment will not automatically reduce your periodic payment unless the remaining amount owed is less than the periodic payment.
(Example: If you pay ahead 1-6 months, and you still have a balance on your loan, you MUST make your regular monthly payment in addition to paying ahead.)
Recommendation: If you want to pay down your loan early without penalty – just make your payment for more than amount due.
(Example: I use It’sMe247 to pay my boat loan out of my share draft account, when I sign in to transfer the funds I pay a little extra with each payment. This way I am making my agreed upon monthly payment as stated above and paying extra to my loan each month.)
