May 10, 2024, Tallahassee experienced severe weather conditions this morning, including tornadoes and extreme winds. As a result, extensive damage was caused throughout the city, with transmission lines, poles, and wires down. An OEU crew has been dispatched to assist with mutual aid and help repair the damage caused by the severe weather.

In May 2024, OCCU’s President/CEO attended the CU*South Visionary Conference in Sandestin, FL. Above is one of the slides from this presentation showing the Credit Union Landscape using the Federal Government (NCUA Data). This is one of the first conferences where our industry has so much negative reporting. In addition to this, we are currently in a Merger Frenzy in the United States which is causing consumers to have less choices. In the 1970’s there were over 21,000 different credit unions in the United States and today there are under 5,000. The banking industry is facing the same decline.
