August 2023
In August 2023, OCCU began clearing the woods behind the credit union in preparation of Hurricanes and alleviate all the snakes. Thank you, Member Tyler. (Tyler was the lowest bid on this project which included, cutting all trees & brush, removing all stumps, and hauling off.)
In August 2023, LPGA & OCCU Member Destiny Lawson, playing in California (Indian Wells Country Club), was at an Official Practice (LPGA Q-School Prep) and made 153 yards HOLE-IN-ONE w/8 Iron. Her dad, Mr. Lawson, showed me a video of her practicing on a different hole, the day before, and shot over 180 yards and ball stopped inches from being a Hole-In-One. Being members of Ocala Community Credit Union, the family doesn’t have to worry about their finances and can focus on their game.
In August 2023, OCCU celebrated its 70 Year Anniversary with a Beach Party Cookout for our members. Employees dress for our Hawaiian Theme, food was provided at both offices with Hot Dogs & Hamburgers grilled outside for our Main Office members, and Publix Food Trays inside for our Marion Oaks members. In May 2023, OCCU sponsored member, Hannah, where she competed at the County with her demonstration called “Meat Judging”. She received a blue ribbon and first place to move on to Districts. She then competed at District level with her demonstration on May 6th and received a blue ribbon and first place. She has now qualified to compete at State with her demonstration. State competition is held at the University of Florida at 4-HU.

In February 2023, OCCU wishes farewell to our Senior Teller, Cynthia, at our Marion Oaks Branch. Cynthia worked at Ocala Community Credit Union for almost 10 years. She began her career here as a Part-Time Employee and worked her way up to a Full-Time Senior Teller. She will be greatly missed.
